BPBD Tulungagung Chief Executive Robinson Nadeak said on Friday evening that logistics assistance, including tarpaulins and basic supplies, had been distributed to affected residents.
He noted that sixty emergency tarpaulins were delivered to cover roofs damaged by the wind.
BPBD teams, working with village authorities and residents, also cleared debris and reinforced weakened roofs. Nadeak emphasized that immediate action was necessary to meet urgent needs and support early recovery efforts.
Field monitoring continues to assess structural vulnerabilities and anticipate potential extreme weather. BPBD is coordinating closely with village authorities to ensure all damaged houses are secured as soon as possible.
The strong winds occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on Friday as rainfall began. Sudden gusts caused tiles, asbestos sheets, and metal roofing to detach in a short period.
Heru, a 35-year-old resident, said the wind struck unexpectedly and damaged the roofs of dozens of houses. He described how the gusts intensified rapidly and caused asbestos roofing on his home to collapse.
Plosokandang Village Secretary M. Azim Jaya reported that damage varied from minor to moderate across the two hamlets.
The village government has supplied replacement roof tiles while residents are working together to repair damaged sections.
He added that this was the first incident of such severity in the area.
