In an Instagram post, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the leaders exchanged views on bilateral relations during a virtual meeting on Saturday.
"On that occasion, both parties discussed officially launching the Indonesia-United Kingdom Strategic Partnership, which is expected to mark a new milestone in cooperation between the two countries," he said.
He said Prabowo and Starmer explored opportunities to deepen maritime cooperation, noting their shared view on the need to strengthen maritime security collaboration, information exchange, and joint initiatives to enhance law enforcement capacity.
Wijaya said the discussion also touched on economic cooperation, with Prabowo expressing Indonesia's readiness to expand partnerships focused on job creation and sustainable economic growth.
He added that Starmer highlighted education sector cooperation, including plans for British universities to expand in Indonesia, and reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to provide scholarships for up to 10,000 Indonesian students.
Beyond bilateral issues, Wijaya said the two leaders also discussed the situation in Gaza, including the planned International Stabilization Force intended to protect civilians and ensure continuous humanitarian aid delivery.
He said the talks laid a foundation for Indonesia and the UK to advance their shared strategic agenda.
"The virtual meeting serves as the first step toward shared agendas planned for early next year and reaffirms the two countries' commitment to fostering an inclusive, visionary, and mutually beneficial partnership," Wijaya said.
