“We prioritize discipline in public services, particularly at terminals and in the land transportation sector, ensuring integrity and preventing illegal levies,” the minister said in a statement on Sunday.
Purwagandhi conveyed the commitment during a meeting with Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian to prepare for Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 transportation services.
He stated that the Ministry of Transportation has begun preparing holiday transport operations through coordination and collaboration with relevant ministries, institutions, and stakeholders.
“We hope this year’s Christmas and New Year period will run smoothly and safely,” he added.
The minister also outlined collaborative plans with the Home Ministry on transportation safety, strengthening and integrating regional public transport, aligning development planning related to transportation, and addressing congestion and transit-oriented development (TOD).
Both ministries will also work together on regional transportation development projects, supervision of regional civil servants involved in transportation services, and harmonization of transportation regulations.
He highlighted several factors that must be anticipated, including the Christmas and New Year holidays coinciding with weekends, which is expected to increase travel activity, and the national collective leave policy that provides the public with greater flexibility to travel.
Following President Prabowo Subianto’s directives, the government has launched a holiday stimulus program through a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB).
“We are also finalizing the SKB on restrictions for goods transportation during the 2025/2026 holiday period to ensure smooth mobility,” he said.
