Johannesburg (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka outlined several national priority agendas, including the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program and the food self-sufficiency initiative, during bilateral talks on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in South Africa.

On the first day of the summit in Johannesburg on Saturday, he held meetings with leaders from Ethiopia, Angola, Vietnam, and Finland.

"During the talks, I gave the spotlight to several priority programs of President Prabowo Subianto, such as the MBG program, the natural resource downstreaming policy, the food self-sufficiency drive, and some others," Gibran told the media at the Johannesburg Expo Center on Sunday.

He said he would submit the outcomes of the discussions to President Prabowo to determine the next steps.

"We will promptly brief the President on the meetings as soon as we arrive in the motherland," he said.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that Gibran held pull-aside meetings with leaders from Ethiopia, Vietnam, Angola, and Finland.

Speaking in Johannesburg on Saturday, Hartarto said Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço expressed interest in visiting Indonesia next year to explore cooperation opportunities, particularly in agriculture.

He added that the vice president also met with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan.

Gibran delivered remarks in all three main sessions of the G20 Summit on November 22–23, highlighting Indonesia's positions on development, climate change, economic issues, artificial intelligence, and energy and food security.

In the second session, he described the MBG program, launched on January 6, as a strategic initiative to strengthen food security, improve human resource quality, and stimulate local economies.
