Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti underscored the need for educational adaptation in the face of digital disruption to ensure learning remains relevant and up to standard.

Speaking at the University of Terbuka Graduation Seminar at the UT Convention Center in South Tangerang on Monday, the minister noted that the digital disruption era has created an environment of uncertainty, often described as VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity).

“It is an era in which many things are changing rapidly. Many people are experiencing disruptive processes that sometimes make them struggle to keep up,” he said.

Abdul Mu’ti added that digital disruption can be seen across many sectors, including industries where companies collapse because they fail to adapt.

Even so, he noted, this era also presents new opportunities for those able to adjust.

“We must continue to innovate, because innovation gives us sustainability and agility—the ability to endure and the ability to keep developing,” he stated.

“Without these two elements, we may truly experience digital disruption and all the consequences that come with it,” he said.

To address these challenges, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is pursuing innovations and transformations related to teacher quality improvement, learning approaches, and broader education policies.

One such effort, he said, is President Prabowo Subianto’s initiative to distribute interactive flat panels (IFPs) to schools across Indonesia to strengthen digital learning.

Through these devices, various digital learning materials can be accessed and downloaded, making the learning process more engaging.

“The changes we face must be addressed with concrete and innovative measures—actions that have real impact and relevance, equipping teachers and students so they can adapt and enter the future with the competencies they need,” Abdul Mu’ti said.
