Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Mukhtarudin guaranteed comprehensive protection for Indonesian migrant workers before, during and after placement, including upon their return to Indonesia.

"So, comprehensive quality protection is sought, starting from training, through placement, and after placement," said Mukhtarudin when opening the Plate Welder Training Program for 200 vocational participants at the Jakarta Industrial Training Center, on Wednesday.

Mukhtarudin said that, besides increasing the capacity of prospective migrant workers through vocational training, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the government's priority of ensuring comprehensive protection for them.

This protection is achieved through various measures, including outreach on the importance of safe migration, skills training, and education to enhance knowledge and financial literacy.

"So, the government is present, starting from preparing its human resources, then during placement, until the completion of placement, and when migrant workers return to Indonesia. The government will continue to prepare its human resources," said Mukhtarudin.

"Therefore, protection must be comprehensive, from upstream to downstream, from before placement, during placement, and after placement," added the minister.

Besides these measures, the ministry also ensures protection for Indonesian migrant workers while working abroad, notably through the provision of social security.

"This means that all migrant workers will be registered as BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (state social security agency) participants to ensure their protection," said the minister.

"So, this is extraordinary. The government is present for all migrant workers, by training them, placing them, protecting them, and providing them with social security. After that, we hope you will become great professionals," added Mukhtarudin.

Mukhtarudin opened the Plate Welder Training Program for 200 vocational participants as part of President Prabowo's priority program to prepare 500,000 Indonesian migrant workers for the global labor market.

Participants will be trained for 14 days with theoretical and practical materials and one day for a competency test.

They are trained in 3G GTAW competency, which is a Gas Tungsten Arc Welding technique in the 3G or vertical upward position, which is the standard industrial requirements of the destination country.

After completing the training, competent participants will be placed in a number of European countries, including the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
