Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Hong Kong is closely monitoring the condition of Indonesian citizens following a massive fire that swept through the Wang Fuk Court housing complex in Tai Po on Wednesday.

In a statement released in Jakarta on Thursday, the consulate said it is tracking developments involving Indonesians in the affected area and coordinating with local authorities to identify and assist Indonesian nationals, including migrant workers.

The consulate urged any Indonesians impacted by the fire to contact its hotline at +852 5242 2240 or use the KJRI panic button at +852 6773 0466 for support and assistance.

KJRI Hong Kong also conveyed its condolences to all victims of the disaster.

At least 36 people, including a firefighter, were killed in the blaze, while 279 others remain missing.

Another 29 victims were hospitalized, seven of them in critical condition.

Fire crews brought the flames under control at around 1:20 a.m. Thursday after battling the blaze through the night.

More than 140 fire engines and over 800 firefighters and paramedics were deployed, with drones used to monitor the scene.
