BNPB Head of Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, on Tuesday, outlined the breakdown as follows: in North Sumatra, 283 people died, with 173 people missing; in Aceh, 156 people died, with 181 people missing; and in West Sumatra, 165 people died, with 114 people still missing.
In North Sumatra, evacuees are spread across several locations, including 15,765 in North Tapanuli, 2,111 in Central Tapanuli, 1,505 in South Tapanuli, 4,456 in Sibolga City, 2,200 in Humbang Hasundutan, and 7,194 in Mandailing Natal.
"The government is pursuing efforts to open land access in several isolated districts. One route that has begun to open is the Tarutung-Padangsidimpuan route, due to hard work from the Public Works Agency, the military, and the National Police," Muhari noted.
In addition, air deliveries are being conducted using three helicopters from BNPB and the Indonesian Army, transporting basic supplies, kitchen equipment, fuel, generators, and satellite-based communication tools such as Starlink.
The agency has also deployed 20 personnel in North Tapanuli and Central Tapanuli, while the military and the police have provided support to more than 500 personnel in Central Tapanuli and Mandailing Natal, Muhari added.
"Logistical assistance in the form of food and non-food items continues to be distributed to the affected districts and cities," he said.
Meanwhile, in Aceh, the increase in the number of missing people was driven by additional reports from the public.
"The number of evacuees has reached 479,300 people across various districts and cities, with the highest concentration in North Aceh District at 107,305," Muhari noted.
According to him, almost all main routes in Aceh Province remain completely cut off.
However, an alternative route via the Awe Geutah Suspension Bridge is available, though with limited access.
Muhari stated that the Ministry of Public Works continues to accelerate repairs to this vital infrastructure.
"BNPB has also activated Starlink emergency communication devices in East Aceh, North Aceh, Gayo Lues, Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, Lhokseumawe, Bireuen, and Aceh Tamiang. Mobilization of devices for other areas is ongoing," he added.
"Weather Modification Operations (OMC) have also been conducted using Cessna Caravan aircraft. One Cessna 208B Caravan PK-SNP completed three sorties, deploying a total of 1,000 kg of NaCl and 2,000 kg of CaO," he continued.
In West Sumatra Province, the total number of evacuees has reached 18,624 families, or 122,683 people, with the highest figures in Pesisir Selatan District and Tanah Datar District.
Joint forces from BNPB and several other institutions delivered four tons of aid to Solok, Agam, and West Pasaman Districts on Monday. The aid included packaged food, rice, mineral water, raw food ingredients, mattresses, and medicine.
Aid delivery by sea was also carried out to Sungai Batang in Agam District, which remains isolated due to blocked road access.
Muhari said BNPB continues to accelerate the search for victims, reopen access routes, restore vital services, and meet the community’s basic needs.
