Padang, West Sumatra (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) continues to deliver emergency aid by air to communities in West Sumatra that remain cut off following severe floods and landslides.

“In isolated areas, BNPB—together with the military and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas)—continues distributing disaster relief by air,” said Abdul Muhari, Head of BNPB’s Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, on Thursday.

As of December 3, BNPB had delivered 6.5 tons of food and non‑food supplies to Padang Pariaman, Agam, Solok, and Pesisir Selatan districts.

Air deliveries included 4.1 tons to Agam, 843 kilograms to Padang Pariaman, 808 kilograms to Solok, 430 kilograms to Pariaman City, and 250 kilograms to Pesisir Selatan.

Supplies consisted of basic necessities, biscuits, drinking water, baby food, packaged meals, milk, medicines, women’s hygiene items, clothing, and folding mattresses.

“In total, 18 tons of aid were delivered by air between November 28 and December 3,” Muhari said.

BNPB and local governments are continuing to identify areas that remain isolated, including parts of Padang City, Padang Pariaman, and Agam.

West Sumatra Deputy Governor Vasko Ruseimy said authorities are accelerating infrastructure repairs, especially at key logistics routes such as Jalan Lembah Anai.

“This road is vital for West Sumatra and serves as the main logistics route connecting Riau Province, so speeding up repairs is essential,” he said.

Efforts are underway to restore transportation, public mobility, and economic activity across the province. As of December 3, personnel and heavy machinery were clearing landslide debris in West Pasaman, Agam, Padang Pariaman, Solok, and Pasaman districts.

River normalization is also ongoing in Pesisir Selatan, along with the removal of mud, rocks, and fallen timber in Jorong Tantaman, Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang, Agam District.
