Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said Thursday that the Muslim World League has invited President Prabowo Subianto to speak at its upcoming congress, underscoring the group’s growing engagement with Jakarta’s new leadership.

He delivered the statement after accompanying Prabowo at a meeting with the League’s Secretary General, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

“I almost forgot to convey that the President of the Muslim World League invited President Prabowo to address the League’s congress,” Dahnil told reporters at the presidential complex.

He said Prabowo’s attendance would depend on the president’s schedule, noting that the invitation would be adjusted to his availability.

According to Dahnil, the Muslim World League expects Prabowo to deliver a message focused on peace and unity across the Islamic world during the forum.

“The schedule will follow the President’s availability. They hope President Prabowo brings a message of peace and reinforces unity in the Islamic world. That is their main expectation,” he said.

Dahnil added that Sheikh Mohammed views Prabowo as a figure with significant influence across Muslim-majority nations.

The Secretary General, he said, offered several observations about Indonesia’s position under Prabowo’s leadership, including the assessment that Indonesia’s influence is rising both in the Islamic world and globally.

He also conveyed the League’s appreciation for Indonesia’s diplomatic efforts related to Gaza and Palestine, noting that Jakarta’s actions have drawn attention not only from Muslim-majority countries but also from Western governments seeking a stabilizing voice.

The Muslim World League hopes Indonesia, under Prabowo’s leadership, can emerge as one of the leading voices of the Islamic world, Dahnil said.

He added that Indonesia’s current diplomatic posture has opened space for such a role, particularly in efforts to advance peace initiatives.

“President Prabowo’s leadership today carries extraordinary influence. Hopefully, the direction of peace in the Islamic world can be strengthened through Indonesia under his leadership,” Dahnil said.
