In a statement on Saturday, he said restoration is underway on national roads along the eastern, western and central crossing routes of the Trans-Sumatra highway network, following disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
"Reopening transportation routes is the top priority before the government proceeds further with the rehabilitation and reconstruction phases of infrastructure," Hanggodo said.
He said the ministry has deployed and reassigned heavy machinery from several infrastructure projects to speed up the reopening of road access in Aceh and maintain logistics distribution while mitigating social risks.
The measures aim to ensure smooth logistics, community mobility and the recovery of social and economic activities in affected areas.
In the eastern crossing route (Lintas Timur), he said there were no major disruptions. Two damaged bridges are under repair and targeted for completion on December 12.
Several key sections have been reconnected and are now functional, including the Lhokseumawe–North Aceh to Langsa section, the Langsa–Kuala Simpang section and the Kuala Simpang–North Sumatra Border section, which has been passable for all vehicles since December 3.
Clearing of flood sediment and debris remains ongoing to restore optimal road conditions.
In the western crossing route (Lintas Barat), recovery work has progressed and several sections have returned to normal. The ministry continues removing flood and landslide debris in several areas to ensure safety for road users.
The central crossing route (Lintas Tengah) remains the most challenging due to numerous collapsed bridges and erosion-damaged road sections. Thirteen bridges along routes to Takengon and nearby regions have been destroyed.
Current efforts focus on phased installation of Bailey bridges and handling collapsed embankments.
Several sections are passable under limited conditions, including the Simpang Uning–Blangkejeren route, which is currently accessible only to motorcycles.
The Genting Gerbang–Celala–Central Aceh/Nagan Raya border route is awaiting completion of access to the Kr Beutong Bridge, targeted for completion on December 17.
