According to a statement received here Saturday, Pigai said the goal is to embed human rights principles into all central and regional development policies through the three-day national forum.
The conference will bring together ministries, agencies and local governments to exchange views and identify ways to align development strategies with human rights standards, he said.
“We believe it is essential to create a forum involving multiple stakeholders to craft strategic and technocratic plans on human rights,” Pigai said.
Participants will receive briefings from senior officials, including National Development Planning Minister Rachmat Pambudi and a deputy home affairs minister.
Delegates will then join three commission-level discussions focusing on human rights mainstreaming, fulfillment and protection.
Human Rights Ministry Secretary-General Novita Ilmaris said the conference is expected to produce recommendations and follow-up plans to guide policymaking at all levels of government.
She said the minister will deliver the recommendations at an event marking the 77th Human Rights Day and forward the follow-up plans to the National Development Planning Ministry and the Home Affairs Ministry.
Pigai earlier confirmed that the conference will run from December 8 to 10.
He said Indonesia has long organized national development planning conferences, but this will be the first to focus specifically on human rights.
Pigai called the event an important milestone for integrating rights-based principles into governance.
He added that the conference aims to reinforce the government’s commitment to ensuring human rights are upheld in future development programs.
The minister said the planned discussions will help strengthen coordination between central and regional authorities.
Pigai noted that recommendations from the conference are expected to shape Indonesia’s long-term human rights framework.
