Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is seeking to accelerate the disbursement of its subsidized microcredit scheme, People's Business Credit (KUR), for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affected by recent floods and landslides in Sumatra.

“Tomorrow, Monday (Dec. 8), we will begin meetings with KUR-lending banks to ensure that financing can be disbursed immediately,” MSMEs Minister Maman Abdurrahman told reporters in Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday.

He added that the initial stage of the economic recovery process involves mapping the condition of MSMEs impacted by the disasters across three provinces in Sumatra: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

The mapping serves as a critical basis for determining the number of affected businesses, the severity of the damage, and the specific types of support required for entrepreneurs in the disaster-hit regions.

“Our ministry’s focus, in coordination with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, is to map the situation first. We need to identify which areas or which MSMEs have been affected permanently,” he said.

Abdurrahman emphasized the importance of accurate data to ensure that recovery measures are effective and can be implemented without delay.

He explained that the post-disaster mapping must take into account the severity of the impact in each area to determine how local businesses have been affected.

“After that, we will take further steps for economic recovery. Our focus is on regional economic recovery,” he said.

The minister also noted that restoring economic activity in disaster-stricken areas requires time, and the government is continuing its efforts to return conditions to normal.

Severe floods and landslides struck Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra in late November 2025 following high-intensity rainfall.

According to data from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), as of December 7, the disasters had claimed 916 lives, while 274 people remained missing.
