Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has been informed by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia that power supply in Aceh Province is expected to be restored this evening, following days of floods and landslides.

The president received the report directly from Lahadalia while inspecting the installation of a Bailey bridge in Teupin Mane Village, Bireuen District, Aceh, on Sunday.

"Have the electricity restored?" the president asked Lahadalia, who promptly responded, "This evening, Mr. President. Fully restored this evening."

According to the minister, the electricity supply will be restored to at least 93 percent of regions in Aceh devastated by deadly floods and landslides since last week.

On Saturday (December 6), President Prabowo instructed government officials to ensure the recovery of electric supply in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra affected by the natural disaster by the latest on Sunday evening.

The instruction was conveyed by the president during his meeting with cabinet ministers, CEO of state electricity company PLN Darmawan Prasodjo, and agency heads at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor District, according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

"The president instructed (his officials) that electric supply must be restored in its entirety by the latest on Sunday evening," Wijaya highlighted Prabowo's instruction during the meeting.

According to the cabinet secretary, quoting Prabowo, electric supply in West Sumatra has almost been fully restored, while several areas in North Sumatra, such as Langkat and Tapanuli districts, and parts of Aceh remain disconnected from the grid following the recent floods and landslides.

According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), as of December 7, the disasters had killed 940 people, left 276 missing, and affected over 3 million residents.

The floods have also left thousands injured and caused widespread infrastructure damage. BNPB reported that more than 105,900 houses, along with schools, health facilities, places of worship, government offices, and over 400 bridges, have been damaged or destroyed across 52 districts and cities.
