The training serves as a strategic step to prepare competent national facilitators with a strong perspective on child protection and the realization of a safe, comfortable school environment.
“In the era of globalization, children receive information rapidly, and it is often difficult to filter what content is beneficial for character building and what is harmful,” said the Head of the Ministry's Character Strengthening Center, Rusprita Putri Utami, in a written statement here on Sunday.
She emphasized that the ministry's vision, Quality Education for All, can only be realized if learning processes are free from all forms of violence.
Therefore, strengthening a safe, comfortable, and child-friendly school culture through competent facilitators is a primary prerequisite.
She added that parents and teachers play a critical role in developing students’ digital literacy, particularly in accessing and filtering information on digital platforms and social media.
Regarding violence prevention, Utami highlighted the importance of a layered approach: the family as the primary home, schools as formal education, and society and media as ecosystems shaping children’s behavior.
“Through this training, we hope participants’ capacities will grow in understanding prevention strategies and knowing the correct response and handling steps when violence occurs,” she said.
The training involved 132 participants representing the Education Quality Assurance Centers, Teacher and Education Personnel Centers, and Vocational Education Quality Assurance Centers from various regions.
The training module is expected to become a tool to strengthen child protection capacities and create safe, inclusive, and violence-free educational environments across Indonesia.
