During a coordination meeting on Sumatra's disaster response in Aceh Besar on Sunday, he received reports on housing for evacuees in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
BNPB Head Suharyanto said 37,546 houses were damaged, ranging from severe destruction to moderate and light impacts. He noted the figure remains provisional as verification continues with the Public Works Ministry.
Suharyanto proposed that temporary housing be built by the military and police, with permanent housing handled by the Housing Ministry. He also suggested Rp60 million in assistance per unit.
Prabowo asked, "Is Rp60 million enough for permanent housing?" Suharyanto replied, "For now, it is sufficient, but if the President wants to add more, we would certainly welcome it."
Suharyanto stressed that funds would not be distributed in cash to prevent misuse.
The government will factor in rising prices and inflation, with temporary housing budgeted at Rp30 million per unit.
