“If the victims need permanent or temporary housing and land is unavailable, we will request state land currently under business use rights (HGU) in affected areas,” Nusron said after opening the ministry’s National Working Meeting in Jakarta.
He added that providing land for housing would not be a problem, though no site surveys have been conducted yet for the temporary or permanent housing plans.
President Prabowo Subianto previously ordered the temporary revocation of HGU permits near relocation areas to facilitate construction of emergency housing for flood survivors.

Prabowo stressed that the government must quickly secure land to build temporary shelters (huntara) for affected residents in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
BNPB head Suharyanto told the president that one urgent obstacle to speeding up huntara construction is the limited availability of land from local authorities.
The huntara units are designed to be a significant upgrade from emergency tents, providing each family with a private living space, including a toilet and bathroom inside the unit.
Nusron said the ministry will cooperate fully with BNPB to ensure sufficient land is available for the shelters while respecting existing regulations.
The government aims to expedite housing development to prevent prolonged displacement, particularly in areas where flood recovery has already started.
Officials said temporary housing will provide a safer, more stable living environment for families while longer-term solutions are planned and implemented.
