Jakarta (ANTARA) - Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Rini Widyantini emphasized that public services must be inclusive and friendly for vulnerable groups.

She noted that in the 2024 Global Inclusivity Index, Indonesia's public services were ranked 125th out of 152 countries.

"This is still very low. Thus, this is homework for all of us," she said during a focused group discussion titled Guarding the Quality of Public Service Oversight in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She noted that the number of vulnerable groups in Indonesia is currently still quite high.

Based on data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in 2024, 10.38 percent or 17.8 million Indonesian citizens are persons with disabilities, 12 percent or 33 million people are older adults, and 30 percent or 79.48 million citizens are children.

Furthermore, in the same year, the Ministry of Health also recorded 5.3 million pregnant women per year in the country, or an average of 442,148 pregnant women per month.

"Thus, when we talk about inclusivity, it is not just about people with disabilities, but also these groups that must be considered," she remarked.

To this end, the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform continues to promote a mainstreaming strategy for providing inclusive and vulnerable-group-friendly public services through the fulfillment of accessibility via mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation.

Widyantini affirmed that her ministry had issued Ministerial Regulation Number 11 of 2024 as a guideline in providing inclusive public services.

She explained that the regulation ensures the fulfillment of facility aspects for vulnerable groups, covering leadership policy and commitment, physical accessibility, communication and information accessibility, adequate accommodation, and human resources.

"I want the government to truly be empathetic. Therefore, this regulation is expected to encourage the government, ministries, and agencies to genuinely provide significant services," she stated.
