Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto vows to work optimally to meet the basic needs of disaster-affected residents in Aceh, even though fully restoring electricity remains a challenge.

He conveyed this statement during his third working visit to Aceh on Friday, where he visited evacuation posts in the Aceh Tamiang Bridge area, Aceh.

"The electricity has started to resume operation. We are working hard, but we know the situation is very difficult," he said.

During his dialogue with disaster survivors, the head of state also apologized for any government obligations that may still be unmet.

"We will help everyone. I apologize if there are still matters that remain unaddressed,” Prabowo stated.

He then mentioned that the obstacles encountered in the field remain significant; nonetheless, related parties are collaborating to speed up the recovery process.

Prabowo further affirmed the government’s commitment to continue assisting the community until conditions are fully restored.

The flash floods that occurred in Aceh since late November 2025 have disrupted electricity supplies in various regions.

As of December 11, 2025, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that the level of electricity recovery in affected areas had only reached 36 percent.

The worst-hit areas were Aceh Tamiang and North Aceh District, where many villages were left without power, and residents were forced to rely on private generators.

In addition, rolling blackouts were implemented in the Aceh provincial capital of Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar District to balance the system load.

The state-owned electricity company, PT PLN, explained that the main obstacle to recovery was the severe damage to vital infrastructure.

At least five 150 kV High Voltage Overhead Line (SUTT) towers on the Langsa-Pangkalan Brandan line collapsed, and seven others were damaged by flooding and landslides.

Road blockages also hampered the mobilization of repair teams and materials.

In response to this situation, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia also apologized to the people of Aceh.

They stated that joint personnel had been deployed to work around the clock to expedite the electricity restoration in all disaster-affected areas.
