Director General for Cyberspace Monitoring Alexander Sabar said on Sunday that the fine was paid on December 12, after the ministry issued a third warning letter to X, formerly known as Twitter, for missing the payment deadline.
The warning followed the ministry's findings of pornographic content on the platform, which were first reported on September 12.
Sabar welcomed the platform's cooperation, saying the payment demonstrated X's compliance as an electronic system provider with regulations aimed at maintaining a safe, secure, and productive Indonesian cyberspace.
He added that the fine was imposed through an official regulatory mechanism in accordance with applicable law.
Sabar said enforcing cyberspace regulations at both national and global levels is part of the government's consistent efforts to protect Indonesians, particularly children and other vulnerable groups, from harmful online content.
The ministry urged all digital platforms to comply with content moderation requirements and maintain responsive communication with the government to help ensure a safe digital environment.
