Bangkok (ANTARA) - Indonesian wushu athlete Edgar Xavier Marvelo won the gold medal in the men's combined Taolu event — Changquan, Daoshu, and Gunshu — at the 2025 SEA Games in Bangkok, Thailand, on Sunday.

Marvelo topped the standings with a total score of 29.349, after earning 9.776 in Changquan, 9.780 in Daoshu, and 9.793 in Gunshu.

He defeated fellow Indonesian athlete Seraf Naro Siregar, who claimed silver with a total score of 29.246, while Malaysia's Clement Su Wei Ting took bronze with 29.238.

Siregar posted consistent scores across the three routines, recording 9.680 in Changquan, 9.786 in Daoshu, and 9.780 in Gunshu.

Marvelo is Indonesia's leading athlete in Changquan, Daoshu, and Gunshu, with a strong record of achievements at regional and international competitions.

One of his most notable achievements came at the 2019 World Wushu Championships, where he became the first non-Chinese athlete to win three gold medals in Changquan, Gunshu, and Duilian.

In multi-sport events, Marvelo won silver in the men's Changquan event at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang and the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

He also captured gold in Changquan at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, which featured elite athletes from non-Olympic sports.

At the Southeast Asian level, Marvelo won gold at the 2019 SEA Games and the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, before adding another title at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

Indonesia fielded 1,021 athletes competing in 49 sports at the 2025 SEA Games.

As of Sunday afternoon, December 14, the country ranked second in the provisional medal standings, with 32 gold, 44 silver, and 36 bronze medals, totaling 112.
