In the ministry's statement here on Thursday, Ariotedjo affirmed that wushu has so far contributed numerous gold medals for Indonesia at international events.
"We hope that wushu can continue to contribute to adding gold medals (for the country) and raising Indonesia's ranking in the global eyes," he affirmed while opening the National Circuit Final Stage - 2024 Taolu and Sanda Junior Wushu National Championship in Jakarta.
He also opened the Taolu Senior Wushu Open Championship at the Indoor Tennis Stadium, GBK Sports Complex.
The tournament was attended by 69 athletes for the Sanda championship, 380 athletes for Taolu, and 37 athletes for the senior level.
Minister Ariotedjo remarked that the government will consistently support the coaching and programs carried out by the Indonesian Wushu Association to facilitate the continued regeneration of outstanding Indonesian wushu athletes.
Wushu has become Indonesia's mainstay sport with numerous gold medals secured and new athletes continue to be produced.
Hence, the minister called on parents to support their children practicing wushu to achieve maximum potential and make the country proud.
"Our commitment to wushu is through supporting short-, medium-, and long-term coaching and programs," Ariotedjo, the youngest minister in the Onward Indonesia Cabinet, affirmed.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Wushu Association Secretary General Ngatino stated that the best athletes at the 2024 Taolu & Sanda Junior Wushu National Championship will be sent to compete at the World Junior Wushu Championship in Brunei Darussalam.
"After this, there will be a team to prepare Indonesian wushu (athletes) to compete at the World Junior Wushu Championship in Brunei Darussalam in September 2024," Ngatino remarked.
