The boat was struck by large waves and capsized in the Java Sea off Indramayu, West Java, on Monday
Head of the Bandung SAR Office Ade Dian Permana said on Tuesday that the operation had deployed both sea assets and rescue personnel to accelerate efforts to locate the missing crew.
The incident occurred as the vessel was sailing from Eretan Port, Indramayu, toward its fishing grounds in the Java Sea.
The boat was carrying 18 crew members when it was hit by powerful waves, causing it to sink and throwing all crew into the water.
“Search efforts began immediately after we received the report, deploying the Cirebon SAR Post rescue team and the Bandung 03 Rigid Buoyancy Boat (RBB),” Ade said.
In addition, the SAR vessel KN Setyaki 202 was dispatched to the vessel’s last known position to support the search at sea.
According to Ade, initial rescue efforts were carried out by passing vessels near the accident site, which managed to save several crew members.
Two crew members were first rescued by the vessel KN Surya Makmur.
“Thirty minutes later, the same vessel found two more crew members and brought them to safety,” he said.
Further rescues followed. The fishing boat Cumi Rahayu Jaya located three additional survivors from KM Putri Lancar Samudera.
Later on Tuesday morning, another crew member was rescued by the same vessel, bringing the total number of survivors to eight.
The eight rescued crew members have been identified as Budi, Asim, Ling, Waryono, Daspan, Darman, Warsim, and Kasta.
The 10 crew members still missing are Lancam, Agus, Akim, Casim, Soglo, Iyus, Daud, Tasman, Darkum, and Eri.
“For the ongoing search, the operation area has been divided into four sectors, with coordination involving the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) and ships passing through the search zone,” Ade said.
