Aryani conveyed the president’s commitment after attending a Plenary Cabinet Session at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, December 15.
“The plenary cabinet session held today reaffirmed the steps taken, as well as President Prabowo Subianto’s full attention and commitment to disaster management across various regions in Indonesia,” she said in a statement issued by her ministry on Tuesday.
During the session, Aryani said President Prabowo outlined current conditions in the affected areas and explained the measures that the government has taken and continues to implement.
The president also emphasized that ongoing efforts remain insufficient and that response measures will be further strengthened to assist communities impacted by the disaster.
“The president also expressed his commitment to regularly visit disaster-affected areas in person,” she said.
According to Aryani, the president has visited Aceh three times, North Sumatra twice, and West Sumatra once.
“Going forward, the president plans to conduct weekly visits to monitor developments and ensure that aid distribution is carried out optimally,” she added.
During the Plenary Cabinet Session, each ministry and agency also reported on the concrete measures they had taken.
Aryani cited her ministry’s role in distributing assistance to flood-affected residents in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra through the National Disaster Mitigation Agency. The aid included food, beverages, clothing, daily necessities, tents, and rubber boats.
She also noted that the Ministry of Agriculture has distributed 40,000 tons of rice to affected areas and prepared an additional 120,000 tons of reserves ready for distribution as needed.
In terms of security and emergency response, the Indonesian military reported the deployment of more than 35,000 personnel to support disaster management efforts, including the construction of emergency bridges to reconnect areas cut off by flooding and the removal of mud deposits.
Meanwhile, the National Police deployed nearly 11,000 personnel to assist with on-the-ground disaster response in the affected regions.
The Ministry of Health has also deployed around 600 medical personnel, including general practitioners and specialists, who are working in two-week rotations to ensure the continuity of health services for affected communities.
“For recovery efforts, the Ministry of Housing has declared its readiness to build 2,600 housing units for flood victims. Construction will begin immediately as an initial phase, with further expansion planned based on needs,” Aryani said.
She added that the Ministry of Home Affairs is facilitating the replacement of population documents lost in the disaster, such as identity cards and birth certificates, which will be reissued free of charge to affected residents.
