"Temporary housing is now the main focus in West Sumatra," Hadi said in Padang, the provincial capital, while accompanying President Prabowo Subianto on a visit.
Temporary housing construction is underway in Palembayan, Agam district, one of the areas hardest hit by floods and landslides.
Footage shared by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) showed heavy equipment leveling land at the designated site on Wednesday, with building materials already delivered.
Dozens of soldiers were deployed to the site, alongside personnel from BNPB and the Ministry of Public Works, who were seen measuring and preparing the construction area.
The temporary housing units will be built on the grounds of an elementary school in Kayu Pasak village, with plans to construct 133 units on a 6,000-square-meter plot.
Hadi also signaled the upcoming start of permanent housing construction in the province.
During the visit, Prabowo inspected three disaster-affected locations in West Sumatra.
In Kayu Pasak, the president met evacuees and reviewed progress on the temporary housing construction.
He then visited Kayu Tanam in Padang Pariaman to inspect the construction of a bailey bridge built by military personnel with support from local residents.
Prabowo concluded his visit by inspecting road repairs in the Anai Valley area of Tanah Datar, where reconstruction work has entered the repair phase.
Regarding recovery timelines, Minister Hadi said the government is working to complete rehabilitation efforts as quickly as possible.
"Each area faces different challenges — some involving roads, others bridges — so we are moving as fast as conditions allow," he said.
