Speaking at the "Exploring the National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap: A Foundation for Self-Reliance?" discussion in Jakarta, Patria said the government is prepared to provide incentives and policy support to international technology investors.
He said Indonesia has become an attractive destination for technology partnerships, citing the country's strategic resources and potential in sectors such as semiconductors.
"We hope investors and innovators will capitalize on the resources we have to gain a comparative advantage in the global market, particularly in strategic industries like semiconductors," Patria said.
Amid rapid AI development, he added, the government has set measurable strategies under the national AI roadmap framework.
In the short term from 2025 to 2027, the government is focusing on AI ecosystem governance, including developing 100,000 AI talents annually and building sovereign data infrastructure.
In the medium term, Indonesia will encourage public-sector AI research through regulatory sandbox platforms to test and scale local innovations.
To support funding sustainability, the government plans to establish a Sovereign AI Fund and a blended financing scheme combining public and private capital for national strategic projects.
Patria said the government also expects sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia to play an active role in mobilizing investment for AI development.
