Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs has prepared around 101,000 pieces of decent clothing for residents affected by the recent major floods and landslides across several regions in Aceh Province.

"Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian is scheduled to hand over the aid to disaster-hit people in Aceh this week," Home Affairs Minister's Special Staff for Political and Media Affairs Kastorius Sinaga noted in a statement cited in Jakarta on Friday.

He pointed out that the distribution of the clothing aid, which comprises upper and lower garments, including jackets, serves as a follow-up to the directive conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto during a plenary cabinet meeting in Jakarta on December 15.

The instruction, he continued, marked an approval of Minister Karnavian's suggestion to collaborate with a private company to deliver clothing to citizens reeling from disasters in multiple districts and cities across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

According to him, the Home Affairs Ministry promptly acted on the order by convening a coordination meeting with relevant parties, including the Finance Ministry, the Trade Ministry, and the private company as the clothing donor.

"Home Affairs Ministry's Secretary-General Tomsi Tohir chaired the coordination meeting on December 16, reaching agreements on the steps, procedures, and documents required for the aid procurement," Sinaga explained.

The official highlighted that the government has begun procuring the clothing from industrial zones in Sukabumi, West Java, and Brebes, Central Java, noting that his ministry has mobilized its family empowerment teams for the program.

He went on to say that in the afternoon of December 17, the Finance Ministry's Directorate General of Customs and Excise officially sent off the clothing consignment, with four trucks already dispatched to Aceh that evening.

Sinaga concluded by conveying gratitude to all parties contributing to the aid procurement and distribution, which he deemed crucial to support the well-being of citizens struggling with disaster emergencies.
