After attending a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Friday, Purbaya confirmed there were no funding constraints, either for current emergency response needs or for the upcoming budget.
"The President has checked the information with me, and I have conveyed that everything is in order," he said when asked about disaster aid funds for Sumatra.
The minister explained that information related to disaster assistance had been checked and clarified directly with him.
As a result, the government stated that all funding support has been prepared according to needs on the ground.
For next year, the government has allocated Rp60 trillion (US$3.4 billion) for disaster management, after undergoing a budget review.
Meanwhile, for the current year, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) still has reserves of around Rp1.3 trillion (US$75 million).
In addition, the agency has proposed an additional budget of Rp1.6 trillion (US$93 million), submitted to the Ministry of Finance.
With remaining reserves and budget requests already processed, Purbaya expressed confidence that disaster funding for Sumatra is secure.
"As soon as a request is received, we immediately disburse it. The government is ready, the money is in the bank," he pointed out.
On December 7, President Prabowo Subianto allocated assistance of Rp4 billion (US$232 thousand) per district/city to address the impact of disasters after several areas in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra were hit by flash floods and landslides on November 25, 2025.
The allocation stemmed from a request from Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, who submitted a request for central government budget support to the 52 disaster-affected districts/cities.
He earlier requested for an assistance of Rp2 billion (US$116 thousand) per district, which Prabowo granted while doubling the allocation to Rp4 billion per district.
