Padang, West Sumatra (ANTARA) - The West Sumatra Provincial Government sent 1.5 tons of beef rendang to Aceh and North Sumatra Provinces, as areas affected by flash floods and landslides, as part of a recovery effort after the disaster.

"The total amount of rendang sent reached 2.5 tons, with one ton for Aceh, 500 kilograms for North Sumatra, and one ton for the affected areas in West Sumatra," West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah said on Tuesday.

According to him, this aid was an initiative of the Chairperson of the West Sumatra Province Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TP-PKK), Harneli, which was realized through the collaboration and commitment of various women's organizations in the region.

She informed that the rendang production was carried out in collaboration by members of the TP-PKK, the Women's Organization Cooperation Agency (BKOW), and the West Sumatra Provincial Dharma Wanita since December 15, 2025.

"Even though West Sumatra is also facing a disaster, our sense of sharing continues to grow," she pointed out.

In addition to rendang, her organization is also sending other forms of aid, including children's and women's clothing, Qurans, prayer equipment, mattresses, sandals, and various other necessities.

She noted that such humanitarian action demonstrates the solidarity and shared values of the local community in helping each other amidst the disaster in Aceh and North Sumatra.

The West Sumatra Provincial Government is prioritizing the acceleration of damage and loss assessments and the restoration of essential public services following the conclusion of the disaster emergency response period.

The focus on fulfilling these basic services includes the provision of clean water, sanitation, health services, education, and temporary housing, before entering the comprehensive rehabilitation and reconstruction phase.

Although the provincial emergency response status has ended, the local government will prioritize public safety, along with trauma recovery and psychosocial support, maintain regional stability, and accelerate the validation and verification of Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (Jitupasna) data as the basis for preparing the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Plan (R3P).
