Deputy Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo said the deployment was aimed at addressing manpower and infrastructure needs after a month-long evaluation.
About 600 personnel from two Mobile Brigade (Brimob) battalions will be stationed in Aceh Tamiang and North Aceh, while the remaining 900 will be drawn from regional police units across several provinces, he said.
Polri has already deployed 8,613 personnel for disaster response, including 7,614 from local units in affected areas and 999 reinforcements from headquarters.
Health workers, trauma healing teams, and Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) units have also been deployed, Prasetyo said, adding that DNA identification is under way in North Sumatra.
Polri is also providing clean water through boreholes. Of 300 targeted locations, 238 have been prepared and 84 are operational.
A total of 91 disaster response posts have been set up, serving nearly 38,000 residents, with common complaints including fever, cough, diarrhea, skin conditions, and digestive problems.
Prasetyo said that Polri would continue coordinating with local governments to support affected communities.
