Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has joined forces with major players in the national digital ecosystem to deliver humanitarian assistance and assess post-flood telecommunications recovery in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, as authorities intensify relief and rebuilding efforts following recent disasters.

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid said the visit underscored concrete collaboration between the government and private partners to ensure affected communities receive urgent support and regain access to essential services.

She said the joint effort reflects a shared responsibility to help residents recover and resume daily life.

“Our recovery process must be carried out together. Today, the ministry, along with the entire digital ecosystem and our partners, is present here to directly check conditions and deliver aid to families and fellow citizens in Aceh,” Hafid said in a statement released Sunday.

She stressed that the government’s presence in disaster-hit areas goes beyond ceremonial visits, emphasizing hands-on involvement to accompany communities throughout the recovery phase, particularly in restoring connectivity and basic infrastructure critical to economic and social activity.

Companies and institutions involved in the aid distribution included state-owned telecommunications firms Telkom and Telkomsel, private operators Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and XL Smart, the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), logistics group Asperindo, and public broadcasters RRI, TVRI, and state news agency LKBN ANTARA.

The assistance delivered includes 118 clean water tanks, each with a capacity of 8,000 liters, which will be distributed in stages over the coming week to areas still struggling with access to safe water following widespread flooding.

Additional aid comprises medicines, clothing, prayer equipment, tents equipped with sanitation facilities, mosquito nets, water boreholes, and heavy machinery to help clear debris and reopen access routes in severely affected locations.

On telecommunications recovery, Hafid said connectivity across Aceh has been restored to more than 95 percent overall, though several areas still face significant challenges.

She noted that recovery progress in Bener Meriah, Aceh Tamiang, and Gayo Lues ranges between 60 and 80 percent, largely depending on the restoration of electricity supply.
