Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono, during a virtual briefing for Red and White Village Cooperative PMOs from Jakarta on Tuesday, emphasized the need for better-coordinated efforts between PMOs at the central, provincial, district, and city levels.
"I hope, by January, the progress of warehouse and outlet development can be more significant," he said in a press release.
He acknowledged that managing 83,128 Red and White Village Cooperatives, supported by 1,104 PMOs, comes with significant challenges.
These include limitations in time, the vast and complex geographic layout, the dynamics of cross-sector coordination, and high public expectations.
Nevertheless, he emphasized that PMOs must prioritize integrity, discipline, and consistency while adhering to regulations and upholding good governance in carrying out their tasks.
Juliantono also expressed his appreciation to all PMOs at the central, provincial, district, and city levels for their commitment throughout 2025, noting that their efforts serve as the foundation for the cooperatives' success.
On that occasion, Jambi PMO Adi Putra reported that village cooperatives' development in Jambi is progressing in 206 sites.
Meanwhile, Papua PMO Rustam Irsyad admitted that the development of village cooperatives in the region has not yet been significant, with only four cooperatives currently under construction, citing land acquisition issues as one of the challenges.
On the other hand, the most significant progress in the physical construction of village cooperatives is recorded in East Java.
According to East Java PMO Wawan, development is underway across 3,762 sites, with the overall progress reaching 44 percent.
The Indonesian government initiated the Red and White Village Cooperatives as hubs of economic and social services in village communities, offering savings, loans, and clinic services, among others.
The Ministry of Cooperatives is currently accelerating the construction of outlets, warehouses, and supporting facilities for the village cooperatives across the country.
