"Food assistance of Rp15,000 per person per day—totaling Rp450,000 per month—is being provided. The Ministry of Social Affairs will also provide household furnishing assistance," he remarked in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He explained that the household furnishing assistance amounts to Rp3 million (around US$179.7) per family, while the economic recovery assistance reaches Rp5 million per family.
The minister also provided an update on the distribution of death benefits or aid for those severely injured. The distribution process begins once verification is completed by local governments and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
"We will distribute Rp15 million to the heirs of those who passed away and Rp5 million to those who sustained severe injuries," Yusuf explained.
In collaboration with various parties, the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to intensify disaster relief efforts in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
The focus remains on meeting the basic needs of affected residents during the emergency response phase and preparing for post-disaster recovery.
To date, the ministry is operating 42 public kitchens across the disaster-hit provinces. These kitchens, run in cooperation with local social offices and independent community initiatives, are capable of producing hundreds of thousands of meals per day.
He further said that public kitchens will remain operational until residents move into temporary houses or permanent houses. In line with this, the Ministry of Social Affairs has prepared various interventions for the post-emergency phase.
Devastating floods and landslides struck three provinces of Sumatra—Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra—in late November 2025 following high-intensity rainfall.
According to BNPB records as of Wednesday (December 31), the death toll from the disasters across the three provinces has reached 1,154, while 165 people remain missing.
