Head of Baznas’ Distribution and Utilization Division Saidah Sakwan highlighted that the relief efforts included setting up public kitchens, distributing ready-to-eat meals, providing family logistics assistance, offering health services, expanding access to clean water, distributing sanitation equipment, and providing psychosocial support.
“All assistance has been tailored to actual conditions in the field to ensure it delivers tangible benefits to disaster victims,” she noted in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Sakwan added that Baznas has also deployed its Disaster Response Team (BTB) to affected areas to help accelerate evacuations, support emergency services, and ensure aid is distributed effectively in coordination with other relevant institutions.
“The distribution of aid reflects our strong commitment to properly channeling funds entrusted by donors to disaster-affected communities,” she said.
She assured the public that the Islamic philanthropic agency will continue its role beyond the emergency response phase to support post-disaster recovery and rehabilitation.
“Once the emergency response period ends, Baznas will strive to implement recovery and empowerment programs aimed at helping affected residents regain their economic and social stability,” Sakwan said.
She further emphasized that these initiatives are crucial not only to help residents survive but also to restore their self-reliance.
Sakwan also expressed appreciation for public trust in Baznas in collecting and distributing Islamic philanthropic funds to communities affected by disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
“Your donations are our main source of strength in helping our brothers and sisters who are facing hardship,” she told donors.
