Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), in collaboration with state-run electricity company PT PLN, installed three power generators in West Aceh District, Aceh Province, on Saturday, January 3, to expedite post-disaster recovery.

Based on a statement from the Army Information Center in Jakarta on Sunday, the power restoration mission took place in Sikundo Village, Pante Cermin Sub-district, and involved 25 TNI personnel from two bases along with five technicians from PLN.

The team successfully delivered and activated the generators to full capacity at around 7:30 p.m. local time, after three days of navigating rivers, steep paths, and heavy rain. Their journey included a six-kilometer trek on foot, transporting all the necessary equipment along the way.

In the statement, the Army described the mission as a reflection of the state's genuine care and commitment to aiding disaster-affected communities and accelerating recovery efforts following the major floods and landslides that struck three Sumatran provinces in late November last year.

The mission followed the deployment of 1,000 portable diesel generators and 3,000 gas stoves by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) on December 27, under the instruction of President Prabowo Subianto.

While flagging off the aid shipments at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta, ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia noted that generators were urgently needed to supply electricity to several villages with low-voltage networks in Aceh.

He explained that the generators were transported aboard Air Force Hercules aircraft, adding that his ministry has formed a joint team with state-run oil and gas giant Pertamina to ensure sufficient diesel fuel supply.

Lahadalia assured that all aid items had undergone inspection and data collection, with packaging prepared in line with logistical safety standards to ensure readiness upon arrival.
