Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has stressed that student talent management is a crucial element in efforts to develop high-quality and competitive human resources.

Speaking here on Saturday, Mu’ti said the government is committed to ensuring that every student has equal opportunities to develop their full potential in line with national education goals.

This commitment is reinforced by the issuance of Ministerial Regulation No. 25 of 2025 on Student Talent Management, which aims to manage students’ talents, interests, and abilities in a planned, structured, and sustainable manner.

Under the regulation, student talent management will be implemented on a continuous basis by education units, regional governments, and the central government.

The policy adopts student-centered, inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable principles to ensure that students from all backgrounds have equal opportunities to grow and develop.

The regulation outlines several stages of student talent management, including the identification of talents and interests, development, actualization, appreciation, and capitalization of student talents.

These stages will be carried out in an integrated and tiered manner, from the education unit level to the national and international levels.

To support the process, the ministry has prepared identification instruments backed by the Student Talent Management Information System, known as SIMT Murid, which serves as an integrated national database.

Talent development and actualization will be carried out through intra-curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities, as well as through competitive and non-competitive student talent events.

The regulation also provides for appreciation and career facilitation for high-achieving students, while talent capitalization is aimed at supporting national human resource development and competitiveness.

The regulation has come into force and replaces previous regulations deemed no longer relevant. The ministry, together with regional governments, will conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure its effective implementation.
