Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas highlighted the policy during a gathering with national media leaders, including ANTARA President Director Benny Butarbutar, in Jakarta on Friday night (January 9), according to a statement issued on Sunday.
He described the initiative as a reflection of the Director General of Intellectual Property’s commitment not only to providing legal certainty and protection for creators but also to helping them capitalize on their creative works, ultimately boosting the national economy.
In the presence of 31 editors-in-chief, several senior journalists, and representatives of the Press Council, Agtas also underlined President Prabowo Subianto’s visions, policies, and directives related to justice and digital transformation.
“Our National Legal Development Agency has set up around 76,000 legal aid posts in 32 provinces nationwide, in collaboration with the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions and the Ministry of Home Affairs,” he noted.
He emphasized that the policy reflects the president’s repeated reminder to government aides to ensure that citizens from all social groups can access justice.
Furthermore, he stated that the Ministry of Law has made the digitalization of services a priority, in line with President Prabowo’s vision of digital transformation.
“I have decided that digitalization is a must, as it will make our services more accessible and provide people with greater certainty,” Agtas said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Law Minister Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej referred to the newly enacted Criminal Code (KUHP), describing the emerging controversies as a natural consequence for a highly diverse nation like Indonesia.
He expressed hope that the media discussion would help the government articulate its strategies and policies while reassuring the public of President Prabowo’s strong commitment to carrying out his people-oriented programs.
