Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto said that around 70 million Indonesians are currently benefiting from the Free Health Check (CKG) program.

“Today, 70 million Indonesians are receiving free medical checkups, and they will continue to receive a free checkup once a year for the rest of their lives,” the president said at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday.

Prabowo stated that the program will be expanded to cover all children and adults across Indonesia.

“We have to provide free medical checkups to all citizens of Indonesia. This is not a populist program. This is a rational program to save money by detecting illness and disease at an early stage,” he said.

The head of state added that the CKG program would generate significant long-term savings in healthcare costs.

“This is actually a productivity improvement program. My experts say that in the long run, we will save many, many billions of U.S. dollars,” he remarked.

The World Economic Forum is an annual global gathering held since 1971 in Davos, Switzerland, bringing together experts, practitioners, economists, academics, and world leaders to discuss current economic challenges and future economic projections.

Indonesia’s president had not attended the WEF for more than a decade prior to Prabowo’s participation. The first Indonesian president to attend the forum was Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who delivered a speech on green, environmentally friendly economics in 2011.
