Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said on Thursday that Indonesia will continue to prioritise peace over chaos, reaffirming the country’s commitment to friendship and global responsibility amid geopolitical uncertainty.

“If you want to take something from my talk today, maybe it should be this: Indonesia chooses peace over chaos. We want to be a friend to all and an enemy to none,” Prabowo said while delivering his special address at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos.

Reaffirming Indonesia’s long-standing non-aligned foreign policy, Prabowo said the country seeks to be a good neighbour and a responsible global citizen, while stressing the importance of protecting the environment and nature. He emphasised that humanity must not destroy nature and should live in harmony with it.

“One thousand friends are too few for us, and one enemy is too many,” he added.

On global cooperation, Prabowo urged the international community to help shape a future full of hope, grounded in credibility, sound public policy implementation, and sustained, inclusive economic growth.

“Let us continue the journey to improve the quality of life for all, to live in peace, freedom, friendship, tolerance, coexistence and cooperation among all races, ethnicities and religions. Let us continue our pursuit of justice, security and freedom for all,” he said.

Prabowo warned that rising global tensions and fragile trust among nations threaten economic growth and prosperity, underscoring the importance of peace as conflicts continue to erupt in various parts of the world.

“There will be no prosperity without peace,” he said, adding that peace and stability are the fundamental prerequisites for growth and prosperity.

He said Indonesia’s relative stability was not accidental, but the result of deliberate political choices made over many years.

“Peace and stability in my country did not happen by luck. They happened because we, as a nation, have consistently chosen unity over fragmentation, collaboration over confrontation, and friendship over enmity,” Prabowo added.
