The victim was identified as Esther Aprilita Binarsit Sianipar, 26, after fingerprint, personal property and medical examinations matched antemortem records, South Sulawesi police forensics chief Muhammad Haris told reporters.
Sianipar, a female flight attendant, lived in Bogor, West Java. Three victims have now been identified after recovery by joint search and rescue teams.
The identification was carried out by a joint DVI team from South Sulawesi police, the national police medical unit, identification specialists and forensic experts from Hasanuddin University.
“The joint team has identified three victims from four body bags received so far. Identification is continuing carefully and professionally, following procedures,” Haris said.
The victims were aboard an ATR aircraft operated by private carrier Indonesia Air Transport, which was carrying 10 people, including seven crew members and three passengers.
The DVI team received the body bag late on Thursday night after search teams evacuated remains from the mountainous crash site in Pangkep District.
Investigators compared post-mortem data with antemortem records provided by the victim’s family before confirming the identification.
Authorities have earlier identified three victims, flight attendants Florencia Lolita Wibisono and Esther Aprilita Binarsit Sianipar, and passenger Deden Maulana, a civil servant at the fisheries ministry.
One body bag containing partial remains is still being examined. On Friday, the DVI post received seven additional packages, including six body bags and one containing body parts.
Meanwhile, search operations entered their seventh day after joint teams found additional remains, believed to be incomplete, packaged as recovery items nine and 10 in the Bulusaraung area.
“The latest information shows a total of 10 recovery packages at the operation site, all under evacuation,” Makassar search and rescue official Andi Sultan said.
Field reports confirmed the total number of recovered packages had reached 10 in the search area.
“At 9:06 a.m. local time package nine was found, followed by package 10 at 9:10 a.m., and both are being evacuated,” Sultan said.
The ATR 42-500 aircraft was reported missing over Mount Bulusaraung while attempting to land at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar on January 17.
The aircraft was carrying 10 people, comprising seven crew members and three passengers from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.
