"We have identified all the 10 victims, which comprise seven flight crew members and three passengers," South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro stated in a press conference here on Saturday.
The 10 victims were identified from some 11 body bags received by the disaster victim identification (DVI) team from the rescue officers deployed to the crash site. The last batch of body bags was received on Friday (January 23).
The DVI team was successful in designating all the victims' identities according to the flight manifest, he said, adding that the process was helped by the victims' body conditions.
"The other body bag contained skeletal remains, which we were able to confirm belonged to one of the victims,” he added.
Meanwhile, South Sulawesi Police Health and Medical Department Head Senior Commissioner Muh. Haris said the identification was carried out using fingerprints, dental records, personal belongings, and medical data.
Haris also confirmed that all the victims have been handed over to their families.
The last batch of ATR 42-500 crash victims identified by the DVI team is as follows:
- Yoga Nouval Prakoso (passenger), aerial photograph operator from the Marine and Fisheries Ministry;
- Ferry Irawan, aged 41 (passenger), from the Marine and Fisheries Ministry;
- Muhammad Farhan Gunawan, aged 26 (first officer);
- Hariadi, aged 57 (flight crew);
- Dwi Murdiono, aged 40 (flight crew);
- Restu Adi Pribadi, aged 40 (flight crew);
- Andi Dahananto, aged 58 (pilot).
Meanwhile, the other three victims had been identified earlier by the team and have been handed over to their respective families. They are:
- Esther Aprilita Binarsit Sianipar, aged 26 (flight attendant);
- Florencia Lolita Wibisono, aged 33 (flight attendant);
- Deden Maulana (passenger), asset management official from the Marine and Fisheries Ministry.
The ATR 42-500 aircraft operated by Indonesia Air Transport was reported missing contact near the border of Maros and Pangkajene, and Islands districts before it was scheduled to land at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport on Saturday (January 17).
The aircraft debris was found in the Bulusaraung mountains on the following day (January 18).
On the same day, Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) Chief Soerjanto Tjahjono stated that the agency classified the crash as a case of Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT).
