"The direction has always been clear: regardless of the conditions, we must strive for self-reliance," he told the press at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday.
The minister made these remarks in response to questions on potential special directives from President Prabowo Subianto to the cabinet regarding heating global conflicts, including speculation about a potential third world war.
Hadi explained that self-reliance covers various strategic sectors, ranging from food and energy to the national economy.
According to him, bolstering self-reliance is vital to ensure Indonesia does not depend on external parties in the event of global instability or crisis.
"First, of course, is food self-sufficiency, followed by energy self-sufficiency and economic self-reliance. This way, if something happens, we are not dependent," he explained.
During his speech at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday (January 22), President Prabowo reaffirmed that Indonesia firmly chooses the path of peace and global stability over chaos.
"If you want to take something from my talk today, maybe it should be this: Indonesia chooses peace over chaos," he remarked in front of world leaders.
The president stressed that Indonesia wants to be "a friend to all and enemy to none," highlighting it as a foundation for Indonesia's foreign policy direction, reflecting its commitment to friendship, responsibility, peace, stability, and sustainability.
In his speech, he also underscored that peace and stability are the most valuable assets and ultimate prerequisites for a nation's growth and prosperity.
