“The inspection was aimed at ensuring the referral hospital is fully ready to provide health services to the community before it is inaugurated and fully operational,” Governor Tjoanda said on the sidelines of the working visit here on Friday.
She explained that RSUD Maba is a Type C hospital with a three-story medical building constructed through collaboration between the East Halmahera district government and the implementing contractor.
The hospital is expected to expand access to referral medical services, especially for communities in coastal and island areas.

During the visit, Minister Sadikin reviewed several service units, ranging from inpatient wards to other supporting medical facilities.
The minister assessed that the spatial layout, service flow, and infrastructure readiness of RSUD Maba have met initial operational standards.
“Based on my inspection, RSUD Maba is good. From one room to another, everything is well organized,” he said.
Beyond physical readiness, the ministry is also focusing on strengthening health human resources.
The minister said that during the initial phase of operations, the central government will deploy medical personnel under a one-year special assignment scheme, while encouraging the local government to sustainably prepare local health workers.
“Medical personnel will be assigned by the central government for one year. Meanwhile, local governments are expected to proactively prepare local human resources, either by recruiting sons and daughters of North Maluku or sending them for education,” he said.
