“Last night, the President met several national figures who are described as opposition,” he said while delivering material to members of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) here on Saturday.
He made the statement during a PWI retreat at the State Defense Competency Center of the Defense Human Resources Development Agency in Cibodas, Rumpiang, Bogor District, West Java.
According to him, the meeting discussed how all parties should manage the country well.
So far, he said, many parties have often created conditions that disadvantage the country, ranging from the abuse of natural resources to financial leakages.
He continued that these parties range from private actors unwilling to comply with business regulations for personal gain to alleged leakages in the state budget.
“I even received reports of approximately Rp5,777 trillion from Himbara (state-run) banks being channeled to corporations. Meanwhile, our state budget stands at around Rp300 trillion. Where does the budget leakage go?” he said to retreat participants.
He did not rule out the possibility that elements within the government could be responsible for the state losses.
Therefore, he said, Prabowo, in his meeting with opposition figures, wanted to invite all sides to jointly fix the country.
“For that reason, I want to convey that we must be realistic in seeing the situation. We must not cover up conditions that could make our country face difficulties,” he explained.
He also urged retreat participants, as members of the press, to help the government continue carrying out state duties through informative reporting.
