“This transformation includes strengthening BLKs as productivity clinics, talent and innovation hubs, and business incubators,” Yassierli said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
He explained that the goal is to make the benefits of vocational training more tangible for the public.
Under this plan, the skills taught will reflect the ever-changing demands of the job market, simultaneously expanding opportunities for individuals to secure employment or launch businesses.
To implement this, the Ministry of Manpower will collaborate with academia to ensure human resource competencies match modern industry requirements.
“We will invite the academic community to turn BLKs into productivity clinics that meet both domestic and international industry needs. This includes training in areas such as green jobs, smart creative IT skills, and smart operations,” he said.
He explained that the synergy with academia will also bolster the role of BLKs as talent and innovation hubs, training centers for people with disabilities, and centers for enhancing the productivity of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Yassierli assessed that strengthening BLKs is necessary to make them function as more than just training centers, but also spaces of competency improvement that are more inclusive and impactful.
He affirmed that his ministry is also preparing BLKs as business incubators, helping people to start their businesses, including in ideation and strategy.
The minister noted BLKs have long faced several challenges that must be addressed to maximize their impact. These include the number of beneficiaries, cost efficiency, training quality assurance systems, curriculum updates, recruitment transparency, and the tracking of graduates.
"The optimization of BLKs is aimed at improving the capacity and quality of BLKs to be more efficient in addressing the challenge of unemployment," he remarked.
