He made the remarks while opening the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of Central and Regional Governments in Bogor, West Java.
Prabowo said government officials at both the central and regional levels must understand their ethical responsibility as leaders of the people, noting that citizens essentially want a calm, just, and harmonious life.
According to the president, the public places its hopes in leaders who prioritize the broader national interest rather than personal or group agendas.
"They do not like leaders who only advance their own personal interests. This is the hope of all our people," he said.
Prabowo described the meeting as an important forum that brought together almost all elements of government, from central authorities to regional administrations, to strengthen coordination and shared responsibility.
"This is a good opportunity for me to meet face to face with almost 99 percent of the administration of the Republic of Indonesia, from the central to the regional levels," he said.
He also responded to doubts expressed by some parties abroad about Indonesia's ability to remain united amid its ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity.
Prabowo said Indonesia has demonstrated that diversity can be managed ethically and united within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia to pursue shared national goals.
