Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for a bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday morning.

PM Albanese and his motorcade arrived at the palace grounds at 9 a.m. Jakarta time (GMT+7), where President Prabowo personally welcomed him. The two leaders observed a traditional dance performance before the official ceremony, during which the national anthems of both countries were played.

Before entering the palace, President Prabowo introduced his delegation to PM Albanese, including State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to Australia Siswo Pramono.

In return, PM Albanese introduced his entourage, including Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Rod Brazier.

The two leaders then entered the palace for a closed-door meeting. PM Albanese is visiting Indonesia from February 5 to 7 on his fifth visit to the country since becoming premier. He arrived at Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield on Thursday evening.

According to a statement from the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, the Australia–Indonesia Treaty on Common Security is expected to be signed during the visit. Alongside regional security, key discussion points include trade, investment, education, and sustainable development.
