Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan said the Free Health Check-up (CKG) program for students can help build awareness of healthy lifestyles and prevent disease.

"CKG is an initial program, and the follow-up is how to build healthy habits and awareness of the importance of health," Tan said while reviewing the implementation of CKG at a school here on Tuesday (February 10).

Through the CKG program, students' dietary patterns and nutritional intake can be assessed.

"What they eat and how much they weigh are discussed through consultations to build awareness of healthy living," she said.

Students are encouraged to monitor sugar levels in their drinks and excessive salt intake in their food, which could potentially lead to illness.

"Collective awareness to stay healthy can be built because prevention through check-ups is better than treatment," she added.

For girls in particular, she noted that many cases of cervical cancer have occurred, making it a special concern addressed by providing HPV immunization to female students aged 13 and above.

"This is certainly our focus, and through these health checks, students can receive early detection of their health conditions," she said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health targeted 130 million people to participate in the CKG program in 2026, higher than the 2025 target of 70 million.

"In 2025, we managed to achieve the target of 70 million people benefiting from President Prabowo's priority program," Head of the ministry's Health Development Policy Agency (BKPK), Asnawi Abdullah, said here on Tuesday.

He noted that the CKG program marked its first anniversary on Tuesday, with 70 million Indonesians having participated, including 25 million students from elementary to senior high school levels.

"We are grateful that 70 million Indonesians have benefited from this program," he said.
