“Data from our Sihalal platform show that 2,340 SPPGs have obtained halal certificates. We can guarantee that this number will continue to rise amid our certification acceleration efforts. In fact, the certification process is ongoing for several other kitchens,” BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said.
He noted in a statement issued on Thursday that the significant number of certified SPPGs reflects the government’s strategic efforts to ensure both the halal status and the nutritional adequacy of all food served under the MBG program.
“Our agency is currently striving to accelerate halal certification by deploying supervisors tasked with ensuring that the entire food production process complies with halal product assurance standards in each SPPG,” Hasan added.
He further explained that the supervisors are essentially the heads of the respective MBG kitchens, who have undergone halal standards training organized by BPJPH.
“Accelerating halal certification for SPPGs is a must,” he affirmed, noting that the training program has so far equipped a total of 3,198 SPPG leaders with halal assurance supervisory competencies.
The official went on to emphasize that the BPJPH would continue to expand the coverage of the capacity-building initiative in a bid to boost the number of halal-certified MBG kitchens.
“Supporting our functions, these supervisors are expected to take immediate action when they find substandard practices on the ground, both when it comes to ingredients and the production process,” he said, assuring that the BPJPH will remain responsible for oversight duties.
Hasan then stated that stationing halal supervisors in all SPPGs is also aimed at promoting the principles of trustability, traceability, and transparency in the whole process of MBG implementation.
“Considering the long supply chain involved in the MBG program, we intend halal certification to help assure the quality, nutritional content, and also halal status aspect of the food,” he concluded.
