Speaking at the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026 event in Jakarta on Friday, he emphasized that his government shares the people's aspiration for Indonesia to transform into a developed country.
"However, it would be imprudent for us to aim for parity with nations that achieved technological and industrial advances hundreds of years before our country. We may dream high, but we should remain realistic," he said.
Prabowo extended appreciation to all ministers in the Red and White Cabinet for their work and dedication in the first year of his administration, with special mention of Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
Within a short period, he said, the government had rolled out a range of people-oriented development initiatives, which he claimed had already delivered concrete results.
The head of state further said he views realism, tenacity, self-reflection, and boldness as equally crucial for the nation to make a leap forward.
"It takes courage to identify the root of a problem and to recognize what we have in reality rather than what we expect. It takes boldness to acknowledge our mistakes and recognize our weaknesses," Prabowo stated.
He stressed that the government bears responsibility to strive for the greater good of the entire population, underscoring the importance of effective and prudent management of the country’s natural riches.
"Most important is for us to safeguard and properly manage all wealth and natural resources of this country in the interest of the people. As head of government and state, I am determined to serve in this direction," he emphasized.
